EBPI researchers Matthias Schwenkglenks and Effy Vayena were awarded funding as principle investigators in the recent Swiss National Science Foundation’s National Research Programs (NRP) 74 and 75 respectively.
Prof. Matthias Schwenkglenks received funding from NRP 74 "Smarter Health Care." He is collaborating with two colleagues at EBPI, PD Dr. Viktor von Wyl and Prof. Holger Dressel, and with Dr. Oliver Reich from the Helsana Group and Dr. Klazien Matter-Walstra from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Medicine at the University of Basel. Their project explores the geographic variation in the use of health care interventions in Switzerland.
Prof. Effy Vayena received funding from NRP 75 "Big Data". She is collaborating with EBPI Director Prof. Milo Puhan, Prof. Samia Hurst, Director of the Institute For Ethics, History and Humanities at the University of Geneva, and Prof. Christian Lovis, Head of the Division of Medical Information Sciences at the Geneva University Hospitals. Their project aims to create a comprehensive ethical framework for big data collection and uses in biomedicine and public health.
