Marcelo Stegmann, MSc, is a PhD candidate at the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute at the University of Zurich and is affiliated with the Digital Society Initiative. He is part of the Digital and Mobile Health Group, where his research focuses on the development and evaluation of digital biomarkers to continuously assess fatigue in people with multiple sclerosis and Long COVID.

Marcelo completed his Master's degree in Neural and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Tübingen in 2023, with a focus on sleep and circadian research. Previously, he obtained Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and International Business from Maastricht University.

In his PhD project, Marcelo investigates how data from wearable sensors, smartphone-based assessments, and patient-reported outcomes can be combined to better understand and monitor fatigue in daily life. His work aims to complement subjective fatigue reports with objective, real-world measurements and to contribute to more personalized approaches for patients affected by chronic fatigue. To support the development of clinically meaningful and practical applications, he works closely with researchers, clinicians, and patients across different medical institutions.
