Esther Bastiaannet works at the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute (EBPI) of the University of Zurich as an assistant professor (with tenure track) in cancer epidemiology. She is an epidemiologist from the Netherlands where she studied Health Sciences at the Wageningen University. She completed her PhD at the University of Groningen on diagnosis and treatment of melanoma patients with lymph node metastases, and worked at the Leiden University Medical Center for over 10 years (post-doc and assistant professor), focusing on geriatric oncology; with a fellowship at the geriatric oncology department at Moffitt Cancer Center Tampa from March to October 2014. She is involved in several national and international collaborative (cancer registry) groups with respect to older patients with cancer.
