The Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) Work+Health is a joint program of the University of Zurich and the University of Lausanne. Based on 20 years of training experience in the field, the DAS offers a firm theoretical understanding and profound practical skills in Occupational Medicine, Occupational Hygiene and Organizational Health Development.
This advanced training, offered jointly by the Universities of Basel, Bern and Zurich since 1992, is aimed at academics in health services, federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, counseling centers, clinics and research institutions. In recent years, the demand among industry and insurance professionals has grown. A number of program graduates now hold key positions in the Swiss healthcare system.
The Foundation Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) assembles the academic public health expertise available across eight Swiss universities (Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Lucerne, Neuchâtel, Svizzera italiana and Zurich).
The SSPH+ model is based on the vision that public health is a scientific and professional field, shaped by a broad range of disciplines. In a small country like Switzerland, no single institution has the critical mass needed to cover all public health relevant areas. The “virtual school” provides a promising base from which to strengthen public health by assembling over 150 professors in public health sciences in one inter-university faculty. SSPH+ initiates and supports a range of academic activities across universities that would not get support from any single university. It is the “Togetherness” that builds the national critical mass of public health sciences.
