COVID-19 is an entirely new disease entity and the impact of this infection on the Swiss army recruits and the young Swiss population (aged 18 – 25), in general, is unknown. By following up on those army recruits and personnel who test positive for SARS-CoV-2 we can track symptoms and sequelae of the infection and their impact on life quality. Those who test negative will serve as controls. By tracking illness symptoms using a weekly pop-up questionnaire, via App, we can provide data on reinfection rates in young healthy populations which will reflect on whether a positive test infers immunity and for how long. Such data will be most important in terms of future deployments and fitness to work.
